|
Pro-Boer medal, probably made during the latter stage of the war after Kruger had left for exile in Europe..
Francois Rupert Carabin (1862-1932) was a sculptor, medallist and gem-engraver, born at Zabern in Alsace. He trained as a gem-engraver, and then worked as a wood carver and, after 1889, principally as a sculptor. This element of his work is clearly visible on the obverse of this medal, the design of which is executed in considerable relief.
