Within a beaded border round the rim, folded ribbon decorated with shamrocks, roses and thistles inscribed: "TO / COMMEMORATE / British / VALOUR".

Queen Victoria visited the city of Dublin in Ireland during the month of April 1900. There she paid tribute the the valour of Irishmen who were fighting in the Boer War. She was then 80 years old and died the following year.
Laidlaw 0460 is similar but is for "IRISH VALOUR".
