Edge: Plain. Stamped with the issue number. Silver medals stamped: "SILVER".

Obverse: On a pebbled field, bare head of Verwoerd, left. On a raised band around above: “HENDRIK FRENSCH VERWOERD” and below between laurel sprigs: “1901-1966”

Reverse: On a pebbled field, bare head of Strijdom, right. On a raised band above: “JOHANNES GERHARDUS STRIJDOM”” and below between laurel sprigs: “1893-1958”.

Notes: Comes inside a maroon leather case with: "VERWOERD-STRIJDOM" in gilded letters on the top of the lid and "bickles" inside.

The medals displayed here here are both stamped A032 on the edge.

Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd (1901 – 1966) was the seventh Prime Minister of South Africa from 1958 until his assassination in 1966. He lead the country during the establishment of the Republic in 1961 and is chiefly remembered as the architect of apartheid.

Johannes Gerhardus Strijdom (1893 – 1958) was the sixth Prime Minister of South Africa from 1954 until his death 1958. He was an uncompromising Afrikaner nationalist and paved the way for independence from Great Britain and the establishment of apartheid.
