Several varieties of this token exist with the same obverse but with reverses depicting different aspects of South Africa. Probably sold as tourist souvenirs.
The Natal Sharks Board is responsible for the deployment and management of nets and other devices to safeguard bathers along the Natal coastline from shark attacks. They have headquarters and a visitor centre in Umhlanga Rocks north of Durban.
