Gold medal stamped: "A (for 1974) 9CT (springbok head) S.A.M". Also stamped with the issue number. This medal: "3".
Silver medal stamped: "(lion head) STG A (for 1974) S.A.M".
Bronze medal unmarked.

Obverse: Emblem of the silver jubilee, the Voortrekker Monument superimposed on a representation of Capetown Castle (a symbol of the Republic). Signed: “A.L.S.” below. Legend above: “LANDSWYE KWARTEEUFEES VOORTREKKER-MONUMENT” (country-wide quarter-century celebration of the Voortrekker Monument), and below: “1974”.

Reverse: Within a Protea wreath: “1949 / QUO / VADIS? (where are you going?) / 1974 / ONS / ANTWOORD (our answer)”. Signed: “A.L.S” on lower left.

Notes: Issued as a set of three only in a fitted maroon oblong case, embossed in gold on the outside of the lid with the emblem of the silver jubilee and below: "Kwarteeufees Van Die / Voortrekkermonument / 16 Desember 1974”. Lined on the inside with white silk marked: "SAM" and red velvet.

It is recorded (AM2) that Mr. S.G.L. van Niekerk, the Transvaal Administrator, struck the first medal and that there were 100 sets minted.
