Obverse: Woman in long dress beside horse, both standing on flat ground, left. Two dogs at her feet, bird overhead. Legend on pebbled band: "TRANSVAAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS". Ornamental stop at foot.

Reverse: Laurel wreath tied at the bottom enclosing space for inscription.

Notes: Animal welfare societies have existed in South Africa since 1872. Nothing is known about the society in the Transvaal or for what purpose this medal was made.
