The Central Africa Rhodes Centenary Exhibition was held in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia, between 30 May 30 and 29 August, 1953. The exhibition was named in commemoration of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Cecil Rhodes, the founder of the country. It was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, on July 3rd. The grounds covered 50 acres and all eighteen of those countries south of the Sudan had their own exhibition pavilion.
