Seated woman, front, cradling a sheath of wheat in her left arm and holding a sickle in her right hand. Sheep standing on right, plough on left, symbols of industry around. Legend on a raised roughened band: "PRETORIA SOCIETY OF AGRICULTURE AND INDUSTRIES". Star at the foot.

Laurel wreath behind cartouche: "AWARDED TO / (space for engraving) / TO / (space for engraving)". At the top of silver medal on left, maker's mark: "W.J.D" and on right, Birmingham silver hallmarks. First medal engraved: "ANGEHRN & PIEL / 1ST. PRIZE / HAMS FOR KEEPING / 1914". Second medal engraved: "OLIFF & CO / 1ST. PRIZE / ROOFING TILES /1910".

Comes inside a black fitted case: "Pretoria Society / of / Agriculture & / Industries." in gilt on the outside of the lid.
Agricultural shows were organised in Pretoria between 1894 and 1899 while the Transvaal was the ZA Republic. Medals with a similar design were issued (Laidlaw 0184a). These shows ceased during and after the Boer War. After Union the shows recommenced incorporating industry.
