The event was held annually at Easter and in 1910 the competition was hosted by the Cape Golf Club at Wyberg (later that year the Royal Cape Golf Club). The winner in 1910 was Dr. E.L. Steyn. It is believed that the winner of this medal for sixth place was E.C. Thompson who was awarded a medal by the Oxford University Gold Club while he was a student at Brasenose College.
