Obverse: Beaded border round the rim. Two soldiers standing on scrubby ground, hands clasped, inclined towards each other. Boer on left, rifle shouldered. British on right, rifle butt grounded. Behind left, wagon and two tents and on right two more tents. Mountains in the distance. Above winged angel in flight, right arm extended holding wreath over Boer, left arm holding olive branch. Two doves, one left, other right. Signed at 4 o'clock near rim: "LAUER". Legend above: "PEACE WITH (left) HONOUR (right)" and below on a ribbon: "CORONATION YEAR".

Reverse: Beaded border round the rim. Above, arms of the British South Africa Company with motto on ribbon: “JUSTICE FREEDOM COMMERCE” and below, inclined arms of the Transvaal (left) and Orange River (right) colonies, named below and decorated above with sprigs of rose, shamrock and thistle. Legend above: “UNITED SOUTH AFRICA” and below between sprigs of oak: "1902"

Notes: The medal was made with the expectation that Rhodesia (then under the mandate of the British South Africa Company) would also be incorporated into South Africa.
