Obverse: Raised rim with rope border. Cross crosslets standing between lighted candlesticks on altar, monogramm, Jesu Christo Servatore below. Legend on raised band in medieval script: "GUILD+OF+SERVERS+OF+S.SAVIOURS+CATHEDRAL+PIETERMARITZBURG". Cross at the foot.

Reverse: Raised rim with rope border. Ornate chalice against background of radiant design. Around, four medallions containing religious symbols: Lamb of God from the Anglican Church (top); Monogram for the first three letter of Jesus in Greek, iota-eta-sigma (left); Self-sacrifice of mother pelican (bottom); Wheat and grape (right). Legend on raised band in baroque script with ornaments: "O Sacred Banquet in which Christ is Received".

Notes: St Saviour's Cathedral in Pietermaritzburg was the home of the Anglican Diocese of Natal. It was founded in 1868 and saw various extensions until it was deconsecration in 1976 and finally demolished in 1981.

The Guild of Servers is a formal non-clerical structure within the Anglican Church. A server is a lay assistant to a member of the clergy who attends to supporting tasks at the altar during a Christian liturgy. The medal was suspended from a ribbon worn round the neck.
