The medal commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Gold Society (not of the Krugerrand). The Society marketed proof Krugerrands, fractional proof Krugerrands, and proof gold medals to its members. The President of The Gold Society was Eli Levine. The Society no longer exists.
A similarly designed medal was issued containing 1 ounce of fine gold (Laidlaw 1202).
