In large letters at the top in an arc: "SILVER TROYAN" and below in an arc: "20 TROY OUNCES 999 FINE SILVER". At the bottom a beaded half semicircular arc.

The Gold and Hard Asset Exchange was founded in Johannesburg in 1980, but didn't remain in business long. This medal and a similar one, Laidlaw 0487b, were attempts to sell silver bullion manufactured as medals.
The makers marks have not been identified. The SABS marks are absent; so perhaps the medal was made overseas with the intention of marketing the medal internationally.
