Form: Circular. Silver with attached loop. White medal pierced at 12 o’clock for a ring to second for a ribbon either blue or with broad beige central band flanked by red (broad) white-blue (narrow). Ornate brooch bar at the top.

Obverse: Veiled and diademed bust of Queen Victoria, left. Half laurel wreath below. Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA".

Reverse: Coat of arms of Cape Town with motto: "SPIES BONA" below on a ribbon. Legend in two concentric arcs: "PRESENTED BY THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF CAPETOWN / TO COMMEMORATE THE RESTORATION OF PEACE".

Notes: On 19th June 1900, following the occupation of Pretoria, the City Council of Cape Town decided to present a medal commemorating the restoration of peace to school children. The presentation was premature.

The white metal medal was for school children and the silver medal for dignitaries.
