Obverse: In the centre, a Corinthian Column supporting architrave, left, on which are three shields. Below across: “NOTT- / INGHAM / CENTRAL / STATION”. On right, front view of steam engine, surrounded by a pair of wings, with: “FORWARD” on a ribbon above. Below the base of the column, on the left, the coat of arms of Nottingham on a block with motto: “Vivit Post Funera Virtus”, and on the right across: “OPENED ON / HER MAJESTYS / BIRTHDAY / 1900”.

Reverse: On the right, a small bust of the Queen, crowned and laureate,left. Behind her, a wreath of the national flowers of Great Britain. Signed: “JESSOP & SON” below the wreath round the rim. On the left,across: “VICTORIA, IN HER EIGHTY-FIRST / YEAR, SPARED / HERSELF NO /EXERTION OR FATIGUE / IN SPEEDING HER SOLDIERS / TO SOUTH AFRICA, /VISITING THE WOUNDED, / SYMPATHISING WITH / THE BEREAVED AND / WELCOMING HOME HER / (ornament) SAILORS. / SHE ALSO GAVE UP / HER HOLIDAY / ABROAD TO VISIT / HER BELOVED / IRISH / SUBJECTS.”.

Notes: Nottingham Victoria station was officially opened on 24 May 1900. This was Queen Victoria's 81st birthday. The station closed on 4 September 1967 and was demolished.
