Edge: Plain.

Obverse: Within a beaded border round the rim, bust of Paul Kruger, left. Similar to ZAR coinage but cruder. Legend: “ZUID AFRIKAANSCHE REPUBLIEK”.

Reverse: Blank. Sometimes stamped with the maker’s mark in incused letters: “H.U & CO.".

Notes: Reference: Paul Withers, ‘Kruger Pond Imitations’, Galata Print Ltd., 2002, No. 17 who records them as imitation Ponde.

There are two varieties with or without: "H.U & CO." stamped on the back. There are other differences including a possible reworking of the obverse die.
