Obverse: Bareheaded bust of Kitchener in uniform, slightly left. Legend on a raised band on left: “IN MEMORY OF K.OF K.” and on the right between stops: “A NATIONS HERO”.

Reverse: Crossed flag standards of Australia (left), Britain (right). Below in an arc: “AUG. 1916”. Legend above: “IN HONOUR OF OUR BRAVE BOYS” and below between stops: “MARYBOROUGH”.

Notes: Kitchener was killed on 5 June 1916 when the warship taking him to negotiations in Russia was sunk by a German mine.

Maryborough is a city located in South East Queensland approximately 255 kilometres north of the state capital, Brisbane.
