Stamped to the left of the lion, the makers mark: “J.A.R” and to the right the Birmingham silver hallmark for 1901-2 (b). Legend above: “BOROUGH OF STAFFORD” and below: “W.C.T. MYNORS. MAYOR.”.

A helmeted soldier kneeling with a bayoneted rifle, right and behind, a mounted trooper with hat holding carbine, left. Signed on the truncation: “RESTALL. BIRM.” Legend underlined: “SOUTH AFRICAN CAMPAIGN, 1901.”

Issued inside a black leather case from Lewis C. Mummery, Jewellers, Stafford, lined on the inside with black velvet and white silk marked: "GOLDSMITHS / MUMMERY / STAFFORD”.
