Obverse: View of Cape Town, mountains behind, sisal plant left foreground. Above, coat of arms of the Cape Colony, antelope supporters, Hope crest with motto: "SPIES BONA". Legend: " CAPE.TOWN.PHOTOGRAPHIC.SOCIETY". At the foot: "REGD. NO. 402478".

Reverse: At the top, flanked with wreath-like branches, shield of the Cape Town Photographic Society. Engraved below, on an ornate floral-decorated cartouche: "Awarded to / A.J. TAYLOR / Rain and Sun (within quotes) / CLASS1.1914". At the foot: "REGD. NO. (left) 402478 (right)".

Notes: The Cape Town Photographic Society is the oldest such society in South Africa. It was formed 30th October 1890 by Mr B.A. Lewis and Mr T.W. Cairncross
