The South African Blood Transfusion Service was restructured in 2001. The service is now know as the South African National Blood Service and a new system pf awards has been instituted.
Karl Landsteiner (1868-1943) was an Austrian biologist and physician. He documented the first three human blood groups A, B and O in 1900.
