Edge: Plain

Obverse: Crouching female with headdress, facing right, holding a corn plant in her left hand and a small wreath her right. Legend above: “PRESENTED BY” and below between stops: “THE FARMER’S WEEKLY”.

Reverse: Blank. The first illustrated medal is stamped with the makers mark: “F&S” and the Birmingham silver hallmark for 1927-8. The second medal is stamped: "925 RMP" and the third (gilt) is stamped with the S.A. Mint mark for sterling silver.

Notes: The medals made by Fattorini issued inside a blue case lined with white silk and purple velvet. On the inside of the lid: "Fattorini & Sons Ltd. / Jewellers / BRADFORD. / (WORKS) BIRMINGHAM." and other information.

The medal made at the Royal Mint, Pretoria issued inside a blue case lined with while silk and blue velvet. The: "RMP" monogram on the inside of the lid.

The size of the medal varies.

The Farmer’s Weekly is South Africa’s longest running magazine. Awards continue to be presented annually but this medal is no longer used.
