Obverse: Pictures of four returning volunteers from Scarboro against a maple leaf background. Legend: "SCARBORO WELCOMES HER HEROES". At the foot: "1901" divided by the stem of the leaf.

Reverse: Metal back plate.

Notes: Originally came attached to a silk ribbon inscribed: "WELCOME / Scarboro's Sons / FROM / SOUTH AFRICA / Jan. 1901"

Scarboro is a wealthy inner city residential neighbourhood of Calgary, Alberta. In 1901 is was semi-rural with large Victorian houses.
