Obverse: Loosely draped woman sitting on a hive(?), right, spinning yarn on a distaff. Blank exergue. Signed: FENWICK.F" on left end of exergue line. Legend: "DILIGENTIA VINCIT OMNIA".

Reverse: Within a encircling wreath of laurel bound alternating with flowers, across: "S. SAVIOURS (in an arc) / SCHOOL / MARITZBURG / (ornamental line) / FOR MERIT (in an arc)".

Notes: The St. Saviour's School was a adjunct to the Anglican St. Saviour's Cathedral, founded in 1868.

The obverse design was commonly used for 19th century school prize medals. The original design was by J. Moore.
