Edge: Plain. Raised rim thickness 6.2 mm.

Obverse: Within a continuous laurel wreath on a wide raised band, coat of arms of Port Elizabeth with sailing ship crest and motto: "IN MELIORA SPERA". Legend above: "PORT ELIZABETH" and below between five-pointed stars: "AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY".

Reverse: Blank. This medal engraved with ornaments: "AWARDED TO / MARTIN & CO. / FOR / BEST TURKEY COCK S.A. BRED / SHOW 1912".

Notes: The central medallion on the obverse appears to have been struck separately and then brazed onto to the larger piece.

The first The Port Elizabeth Agricultural Society show opened on 13 February 1864.
