The Settlers Monument commemorates the approximately 4,000 British people who arrived and settled in the Eastern Cape between April and June 1820. The monument was opened in 1974 and is located on a hill overlooking the town of Grahamstown. The associated building hosts plays, musical performances and cultural events.
