(2) Engraved (crudely) on the skimmed obverse of an 1896 ZAR 2 Shillings, emblem of the 7th Dragoon Guards.
(3) Engraved on the obverse of a ZAR 2 1/2 Shillings: "E. Joyce to C. Napper".
(4) Kruger engraved in Scottish highland dress with Balmoral bonnet. On plaid brooch: "HLI (Highland Light Infantry)".

(1) Reverse of a ZAR 2 Shillings skimmed and engraved. Within an ornamental border, emblem of the Oxfordshire Regiment and below: "BOER WAR / 1899 / 1900 1901".
(2) Reverse of an 1896 ZAR 2 Shillings.
(3) Reverse of a ZAR 2 1/2 Shillings skimmed and engraved. Clasped hands across, beer mug: "1 PINT" above. In arcs, divided by the mug, in script: "For Auld Lang Syne". In arcs at the foot: "SOUTH AFRICA / 1899.1900.1901.1902".
(4) Reverse of an 1894 ZAR 2 Shillings.

Engraved ZAR coins are frequently seen. Most of them were done by Boer prisoners of War and usually have a hat and pipe engraved on the portrait of Paul Kruger. British trench art engravings on ZAR coins are less common.
