Obverse: Scene of different varieties of poultry in field, pond on right, dovecote behind. In the distance, hills and trees, birds in flight above. Signed in the exergue: "J. MOORE".

Reverse: Legend: "THE SOUTH AFRICAN POULTRY ASSOCIATION", ornament at the foot, enclosing space for engraving. This medal: "FOR BEST / BARRED / PLYMOUTH ROCK / MRS. HENDERSON".

Notes: The South African Poultry Association was established in 1904 in Kimberley to support poultry farming and to promote poultry shows.

The Barred Plymouth Rock is a breed of domestic chicken with characteristic dark and white narrow bands.
