Notes:
|
Chudleigh Brothers, drapers, milliners, outfitters and upholsterers was one of the first large Johannesburg emporia. Mounts Bay House was a three-story building named after the bay in the Scilly Isles off the Land’s End tip of England where the Chudleighs brothers came from. During the Boer War Mr S. Chudleigh remained in Johannesburg to watch over the emporium.
