The City of Norwich is the county town of Norfolk in East Anglia and lies about 160 km north-east of London. These tribute medals were presented by the Mayoress of Norwich to returning volunteers from Norfolk at a ceremony in Norwich Market Place on 16 May, 1901. This medal came in a group of four medals awarded to J.L. Tadman who served with the St. Johns Ambulance Brigade (Great Eastern Railways Division) during the Boer War. His other medals were: QSA medal (Cape Colony clasp), St Johns Ambulance Brigade medal and the 1909 Royal Norfolk Veterans Medal. An example of this tribute medal was sold on auction by Dix Noonan Webb for £340 in September 2011. |
