Obverse: Motorcycle and rider travelling left, clouds above. Legend on a raised pebbled band: "DURBAN-JOHANNESBURG COMMEMORATIVE CYCLE TRIAL" . Ornament at foot.

Reverse: Legend on a raised pebbled band above: "MOBIL FINISHERS AWARD" and below between ornaments: "V.V.C. - R.M.C." Space in the middle for engraving. This medal: "E.B. DEACON / 1976".

Notes: The Durban to Johannesburg Commemorative Rally is a regularly held trial for motorcycles made on or before 31 December 1936. It is organised by the Vintage and Veteran Club (V.V.C.) The original DJ runs were held between 1913 and 1936 under the auspices of the Rand Motorcycling Club (R.M.C.)
