Edge: Plain. Silver Medal stamped: "(lion head within U) STG m(for 1960) S.A.M".

Obverse: The coat of arms of Vereeniging with supporters, crested by clasped hands and a dove. Motto on a ribbon below: “PER PACEM AD INDUSTRIA”. In an arc above: “STAADSRAAD VAN VEREENIGING” and below between stops: “TOWN COUNCIL OF VEREENIGING”.

Reverse: Within a rectangle, an abstract design representing the union of the four colonies, showing four strands merging into a single horizontal bar terminating in: “50”, with: “EENHEID” above and: “UNION” below. Outside the rectangle, in an arc above: 1910” and below: “1960”

Notes: The city of Vereeniging is located in the south of Gauteng province at the junction of the Klip River with the Vaal River. The name Vereeniging is derived from the Dutch word meaning association or union. Appropriately, it was the site of the signing of the Treaty of Vereeniging which ended the Boer War in 1902.
