Bareheaded bust of bust of Roberts in uniform, front. Vertically upwards on the left: "LORD ROBERTS" and downwards on the right: "V.C. K.P. &c". Bordering on the left, a half laurel wreath and, on the right, a mixed wreath of rose thistle and shamrock. On the top arm of the cross: “SOUTH / AFRICA” and on the bottom: “1900”.

In front of a laurel wreath, the Tynemouth coat of arms with legend on a raised band: “MUNICIPAL BOROUGH OF TYNEMOUTH.” On the top arm of the cross: “PRETORIA / JUNE 5TH” and on the bottom: “FRIENDLY / SOCIETIES”.
