Seated female facing left dressed in a light gown, cloak billowing behind, wearing a coronet. On the right, a shield bearing the coat of arms of Paris supported by her left hand. On the left, the French Cock in front of a view of the Hôtel de Ville. Signed round the rim on right: “G. PRUDHOMME". Legend: “VILLE DE PARIS”. In the exergue: “FLVCTVAT NEC MERGITVR” (afloat and not sinking). The N of NEC is inverted.

When President Kruger visited Paris he was received as a visiting head of state. He was invited to a reception in his honour at the Hôtel de Ville (municipal palace). This medal (possibly in gold) was presented to him by M. Ernest Gay, the Chairman of the Municipal Council.
