Queen Alexandra (wife of King Edward VII) donated a cup in 1906 to the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs to be awarded annually for marksmanship.
In 1947 the name of the Society was changed to “The National Small-Bore Rifle Association” with headquarters in Bisley, Yorkshire. To this day the Cup is awarded at the annual rifle competition held at Bisley.
