In the centre, within a circular band, is the veiled head of Queen Victoria facing left. This is set against a background of two crossed flags, Australia on the left and the Royal standard on the right. Above is a crown, and below in an arc is the inscription: “BRITISH / TRANSVAAL WAR / 1899-1900”
