Obverse: Within a beaded border round the rim, uniformed bust of Colonel Baden-Powell wearing hat, front and slightly to the left. Across on the left: “COLONEL / BADEN- / POWELL”, and on the right: “DEFENDER / OF / MAFEKING”

Reverse: Within a beaded interior border, in an arc above: “MAY, 1900” and in an arc below: “WARRACKNABEAL”. Legend outside the interior border and within a beaded border round the rim: “IN COMMEMORATION OF THE RELIEF OF MAFEKING” and star at foot.
