Reverse: Across: “STRUCK (in an arc) / IN AID OF THE / MAYOR’S FUND / FOR THE FAMILIES OF / NEWARK SOLDIERS / WHO FOUGHT IN / THE / TRANSVAAL WAR (in an arc)”.

Notes: Issued in a red case with: “BOROUGH / OF NEWARK / 1900” in gold letters on the outside. The inside is lined with white silk inscribed in gold letters: “(Queen’s Crown) / P.VAUGHTON & SONS /GOTHIC WORKS / BIRMINGHAM” and blue velvet.
