Notes: Majuba is a men’s residence at the University of Stellenbosch, taking its name from the Battle of Amajuba Hill in 1881 where the Boers inflicted a stinging defeat on Britain. The dove is the emblem of the residence adopted because Amajuba means 'mountain of the dove' in Zulu.

This medal in gold was presented to the Chancellor of the University, Prime Minister P.W. Botha, at the annual House Dinner on 22 August 1986.
