Edge: Plain.

Obverse: Within a continuous laurel wreath, bareheaded bust of Lord Roberts in uniform, front. To the left of the bust, in two arcs: “LORD / ROBERTS V.C.” and to the right, “COMMANDER / IN CHIEF”.

Reverse: Two crossed flag poles. On the left, the British Union flag and on the right, the Royal Standard. Crown between the poles above. A laurel wreath in front of the poles below. Legend above: “SOUTH AFRICA” and below: “1900”.
