Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands (1880-1962) celebrated her 18th birthday on 31 August 1898. She had been Queen since the death of her father in 1890 but her mother served as regent until Wilhelmina came of age. A week after her birthday she was crowned on 6 September 1898.
