With crown crest, unofficial coat of arms of Canada used at that time representing seven provinces: Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island. Two wreaths above, tied with long ribbons hanging down. Left wreath around plaque: "SUNNYSIDE" and right wreath around plaque: "PAARDEBURG". Signed: "P.W. ELLIS & CO (left) TORONTO (right)". The Halifax Herald was the leading newspaper in Nova Scotia. It is now called the Chronicle Herald. The fund was used to aid returning soldiers.
