Edge: Plain. Thickness 3.7 mm.

Obverse: Seated woman, front, cradling a sheath of wheat in her left arm and holding a sickle in her right hand. Sheep standing on right, plough on left. Legend on a raised roughened band above: "PRETORIA LANDBOUW GENOOTSCHAP" and below between star stops: "Z.A. REPUBLIEK".

There is a significant design difference between the 1895 medal and the 1899 medal.

Reverse: First medal (1895). On a raised band around reeded rim, a thin rope design. Within a wreath tied at the bottom, across: "TOEGEKEND (in an arc) / AAN" with space for engraving below followed by: "189 ". This medal engraved: "SMITH & PETRIE / Speciale Prys / Rytuigen (carriages)". The date completed with an engraved: "5".

Second medal (1899). Within a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon at the bottom, across: "TOEGEKEND (in an arc) / AAN" with space for engraving below. This medal engraved: "J. RAUBENHEIMER / 2de. PRYS / BLADTABAK (leaf tobacco) / 1899".

Notes: Agricultural shows were organised by the Society in Pretoria between 1894 and 1899. It is believed that the shows were held during March or April immediately after or before the Rand show in Johannesburg. The shows ceased during and after the Boer war. They recommenced after Union and similar award medal were issue (Laidlaw 0184b)
