The obverse is the emblem of the National Numismatic Society Previously the Transvaal Numismatic Society).
The award was made to the author of this website in recognition of the value of these pages to South African Numismatics at a dinner in the Sun Coat Casino on Saturday 16 May 2015. The dinner proceeded the Natal Coin Show held the following day.
