Obverse: Bareheaded bust of President Botha in jacket and tie, front and turned slightly left. Signed: “TS” below the bust. Legend above: “STAATSPRESIDENT . P W BOTHA . STATE PRESIDENT” and below: “R S A”.

Reverse: Portico and entrance to building. Legend above: GEDENKSTEENLEGGING . COMMEMORATIVE STONE LAYING” and below: “1987.02.12”

Notes: Comes inside a fitted cream case lined with white silk-like and red velvet-like material.

The medal commemorate the stone laying for the new wing of the Cape Parliament Buildings by the then president PW Botha. The first sitting of the National Assembly there was in 1987 and it still sits there today.
