Within a beaded border round the rim, bareheaded bust of White in uniform, front with head turned slightly right. Legend above: "SIEGE SUSTAINED 120 DAYS" and below: "GENERAL WHITE".

Beaded border round the rim. On an ornate rectangular plaque across: "SOUTH AFRICA 1900. Behind, laurel wreath tied at the bottom and crossed bayoneted rifles with crown at the top. Silver medal stamped with the makers mark: "J.F" and below that the Birmingham sterling silver hallmarks for 1899-1900 (date latter z)".
