Obverse: Face of man with moustache within stylized sun. On a ribbon below: "FOR KING AND EMPIRE". Legend at the top: "L.W.G." and at the bottom: "DURBAN", silver medal stamped with maker mark: "D.H&S" on left and the Birmingham silver hallmark for 1908-9 (i) on the right.

Reverse: Within a laurel wreath tied at the bottom: "WON BY (in an arc) with space for engraving below. Silver medal, silver hallmarks for 1908-9 (i) stamped above. Legend above: "DURBAN ARTS & CRAFTS EXHIBITION: and below: "1909".

Silver medal engraved: “Mrs / Ellen Crawford”.
Bronze medal engraved: "MISS BOURN".

Notes: The acronym L.W.G stands for the Loyal Women's Guild, an organization formed in 1901 to address the divisions of the Boer War.
